Local Season is our fall and winter in the Mediterranean. It’s a different way to experience the region, with more time in iconic destinations as they come alive with authentic ambiance because this is when locals come out to play. We also visit places not featured on our summer voyages and time them perfectly to catch special events and local traditions as they happen, so guests are welcome to get in on the action.  

In early 2027, Star Explorer joins the fleet for her inaugural Mediterranean season with two brand-new Destination Discovery Events debuting in Livorno and Dubrovnik. 

What makes Local Season special:

• More time in destination. Winter moves slower in the Mediterranean, and we sail it that way — overnights on most itineraries, longer stays, later departures and double overnights in Venice and Barcelona. Two nights in port instead of one, so dinner runs long and the next morning still belongs to you. 

• Comfortable conditions. Mild Mediterranean weather often makes long days ashore, especially enjoyable. 

• Local seasonal life. We sail to larger cities during local season, when the tourist crowds have thinned and the city belongs to the people who live there — traditions, celebrations and everyday energy you'd otherwise miss.

• Small-yacht access. Our scale puts guests right in the center of iconic destinations — in Venice, we're one of the few cruise lines allowed to dock in the lagoon, steps from the heart of the city. Star Explorer brings that same scale to Local Season for her inaugural year.
