If something comes up and you need to cancel your Windstar voyage, for any reason, we'll protect your investment with a Future Cruise Credit. No documentation, no questions asked.

The core protection, the cancel-for-any-reason protection, comes with your eligible Windstar booking for any sailing through March 31^st, 2027. You don't opt in. You don't pay extra.  

If you want comprehensive travel insurance layered on top — the kind that covers trip interruption, luggage delays, medical emergencies and more — you can add the Windstar Travel Protection plan at the time of booking.

Yes. Whether you're sailing the Mediterranean, exploring the Caribbean or heading to the Pacific — if it's a Windstar voyage that sails on or before March 31^st, 2027, you're covered. And if you're booking from outside the US, the same protection applies to you. 

Just reach out to Windstar or your travel advisor and let us know. You don't need a reason — the Promise doesn't ask for one. Our team will process your Future Cruise Credit from there. 

If you booked through a travel advisor, contact them directly. They'll handle everything with Windstar on your behalf. 

You can cancel up to 7 days before sailing. The further in advance you cancel, the less of your fare is in penalty — but even in the final penalty window, the Promise ensures up to 90% of whatever is in penalty comes back to you as a Future Cruise Credit. You're never walking away with nothing. 

Up to 90% of whatever portion of your booking is in penalty at the time of cancellation. The closer to sailing you cancel, the more of your fare enters the penalty window — but up to 90% of that penalized amount comes back to you as a Future Cruise Credit, all the way up to 7 days before sailing.  Please note the Future Cruise Credit is based on funds on file.

The Promise covers your Windstar voyage fare as well as any Windstar-booked shore excursions, hotel stays, airfare, and transfers. Please note that any items not booked through Windstar, such as flights, tours, or hotels booked with third parties, are not subject to the Promise. 

Your credit is valid for 24 months from the date it's issued — plenty of time to plan your next Windstar voyage. 

You will receive your Future Cruise Credit via email within 30 business days after the cancellation is made. 

You should file your claim as normal for the travel protection claim.
